Construction To Begin on Crawford County Bridge Project
Bridge to be replaced as part of Public-Private Partnership
(Oil City) – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project continues in Crawford County with the start of construction of a bridge beginning in July.
- The SR 6 (Grand Army Highway) bridge over a Tributary of Conneaut Lake Outlet in Vernon Township (JV-001) is scheduled to start July 21. The bridge will be built one-half at a time allowing one lane of alternating traffic controlled by a traffic signal to remain open throughout the project. Construction of the bridge is expected to be completed in late October. The bridge was built in 1939 and averages 7,233 vehicles a day.
The bridge replacements are part of the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project, a Public-Private Partnership (P3) between PennDOT and Plenary Walsh Keystone Partners (PWKP) under which PWKP will finance, design, replace and maintain the bridges for 25 years. The P3 approach will allow PennDOT to replace the bridges more quickly while achieving significant savings and minimizing impact on motorists.
